Sophie specialises in technology, intellectual property and privacy law. She offers her clients market-leading expertise in strategic technology procurement and digital transformation projects, commercialisation of intellectual property rights, data-driven transactions and on all aspects of privacy and cyber security matters. Her expertise is grounded on domestic and international experience across various sectors, including aviation, government, health, energy and resources, financial services, education, tourism and the arts.

She advises on a full range of privacy, data and AI-related matters, including advising on complex privacy and data protection regulations and best practice, privacy impact and AI risk assessments and governance arrangements, data commercialisation, security of critical infrastructure regulatory requirements, contractual arrangements, and privacy, cyber and AI due diligence in corporate transactions.

Sophie has particular experience helping organisations and Boards prepare for and respond to significant cyber security incidents and other data breaches, across a broad range of industries including financial services, retail, professional services, critical infrastructure, and the public sector. As the regulatory and threat landscapes continue to rapidly evolve, Sophie works with clients as a trusted adviser to effectively prepare, respond, manage and mitigate the risks associated with cyber incidents and other data breaches.

Sophie regularly speaks at industry events on issues relating to privacy, cyber security and emerging technology. Sophie is an active and long-term volunteer for several associations, including the International Association of Privacy Professional (IAPP) and the Queensland Law Society’s IP, Technology, Privacy and Data Policy Committee.
